The UCL Institute of Healthy Ageing<http://www.ucl.ac.uk/iha> is currently seeking a post-doctoral research associate to join our Wellcome Trust funded project.

The successful candidate will join a programme investigating the mechanisms by which lowered insulin/Igf/TOR signalling improves health during ageing, with the ultimate aim of contributing to a broad spectrum, preventative medicine for the diseases of human ageing. The project is broadly defined, and will provide the appointee with considerable scope to innovate and develop new lines of research, as well as providing a sound set of unpublished baseline data from which to move forward.

Key Requirements:

The successful candidate must hold (or be about to be awarded) a PhD degree in relevant subject as well as demonstrate proven knowledge of molecular biology and genetics. Knowledge of data handling and statistics is also essential. Candidates are expected to demonstrate laboratory research skills for molecular biology and genetics eg. nucleic acid and protein detection for quantification (QPCR, Westerns). Abilities such as Drosophila handling, husbandry, genomics, transgenesis, physiology and imaging as well as protocol development and trouble shooting for novel implementations of molecular biology, physiology and imaging with adult Drosophila are desirable.

This post is funded until February 2020 in the first instance.

Applications close on February 1, 2017
