Subject: Job available in FlyBase/Virtual Fly Brain

Dear Dr Bateman,

I writing to ask your help in recruiting someone to work with both FlyBase and Virtual Fly Brain here in Cambridge.

It is a challenge to recruit to this post, because it will be a new type of work for those that we hire. Please help us identify those with Drosophila/Neuroscience experience who might enjoy the shift away from the bench to helping build resources for the research community. This post would be suited to that member of your lab who has for example spontaneously decided to create a database of the plasmids or stocks in the lab, or has taken on reorganizing and improving your current database. Most of our literature curators have a Ph.D. and postdoctoral experience, but we will also consider exceptional people who just have a Bachelor's or Master's degree.

Please encourage any members of your group who you think would be suitable for this kind of change in career to apply. The deadline for applications is 17 January 2018. The job description is here http://www.jobs.cam.ac.uk/job/16128/<https://emea01.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.jobs.cam.ac.uk%2Fjob%2F16128%2F&data=01%7C01%7Cjoseph_matthew.bateman%40kcl.ac.uk%7Cb7de3a98c8bd4ea4788108d5577e3b6c%7C8370cf1416f34c16b83c724071654356%7C0&sdata=NGqUjIuoitfVt1Zcy73YPaXgf82lGMnp5fEebC038ik%3D&reserved=0>

Many thanks for your help, Nick
