Subject: Funded PhD Studentship - Weil Lab

Hi Rita,

Thanks again for helping with the viva! I have another quick favour to ask... could you send this around your department? No worries if not!

See you soon, Tim

Dear All,

I am currently recruiting for a fully-funded 4-year PhD through the BBSRC DTP Targeted Studentship scheme, start date October 2019, to work on the organisation and function of macromolecular complexes in vivo. The closing date for applications is 12 noon on Friday 7 December.

I would massively appreciate if you could circulate this email to any potential students and related colleagues. Students are welcome to contact me (tw419 at cam.ac.uk<mailto:tw419 at cam.ac.uk>) for more information or to apply directly by clicking on the black icon "Apply Now" on the right hand column on this page: https://www.graduate.study.cam.ac.uk/courses/directory/blzopdzoo<https://emea01.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.graduate.study.cam.ac.uk%2Fcourses%2Fdirectory%2Fblzopdzoo&data=01%7C01%7Crita.sousa-nunes%40kcl.ac.uk%7Ceb54a58aba3b4215f90808d655264f62%7C8370cf1416f34c16b83c724071654356%7C0&sdata=d9IsEbpWeGcxhpeVtkbjUVJeMder9GVUMyIAJUaK9gw%3D&reserved=0>

Briefly, this project will utilise the genetic, biochemical and molecular tools available in Drosophila to explore the molecular mechanisms that regulate Processing body (P bodies) function. We have already established a reproducible assay for the breakdown of P bodies, which enables visualisation of P bodies under experimental conditions, including changes in temperature, stress, ion concentration and the presence of chaperones. Together, this work would seek to build a complete understanding of the organisation and function of macromolecular complexes.

Tim
