The project’s aim is to uncover the molecular mechanisms of neuronal cell death by carrying out single cell sequencing in brains of a fly model of CCCCGG hexanucleotide repeat expansion (C9), the most common genetic cause of sporadic and familial Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) and Frontotemporal Dementia (FTD). The candidate will join an exciting research environment integrating fly research with mouse work.
