Dear all,

You may have heard that Twitter acquisition by Elon Musk created a bit of
havoc on the internet and interestingly enough this has acted as a catalyst
to a migration (or at least a reflection) among scientists on social media.

Mastodon is an open source alternative to Twitter that may eventually work
out even better and many scientists are currently migrating there. I wrote
a very short introduction about Mastodon here
<https://giorgio.gilest.ro/2022/11/05/mastodon-an-introduction-for-beginners-and-for-scientists/>
and
I invite you to read it and consider joining. The value of a social network
is all in its users.

As my short introduction explains, drosophila.social is a mastodon instance
for the Drosophila community (mind you: we also have a zebrafish
infiltrator) and that may be a good place to start.

Give it a thought.
Have a nice weekend
Giorgio
