Subject: NeuroBioUK one-day meeting

Dear Alessio,

We would like to gauge your interest for an annual one-day meeting in the UK focussed on neuronal and glial cell biology. As much as we enjoy existing cell biology meetings, we feel like there is a gap in the current meeting landscape.

The idea is to run NeuroBioUK as an annual one-day event, to hear about the latest work from labs working in the UK with an interest in neuronal and glial cell biology. We are currently planning an inaugural meeting, tentatively planned for Friday, Sept 15 in York. The emphasis will be on early career speakers (PhD, Post-doc and Junior PIs) selected from submitted abstracts and networking between scientists with a common interest, including a poster session.

The format of the meeting will follow other successful one-day meetings, e.g. London Membrane Traffic Meeting, Bristol Actin Meeting and Edinburgh Microtubule Meeting. Similarly, to these go-to events in the UK we would like our meeting to be 1) focussed, 2) cheap to attend and 3) take up minimal time.

The topic is any cell biological aspect of neuronal and glial function, the direction decided by the labs that participate. We aim to keep registration costs low (< £30), including lunch and coffee breaks.

As we haven't run the meeting before, we’re starting from scratch. If you could complete the following quick (2 minutes!) survey<https://forms.gle/nigcuKf8GhskdR9A9> and share it with your local neuroscience community, it will allow us to plan the meeting and understand if this is of general interest: https://forms.gle/nigcuKf8GhskdR9A9

We hope you share our excitement for a neurobiology “home” meeting!

Best wishes,

Alex Fellows, Alison Twelvetrees and Ines Hahn
