As some of you might have heard, I recently got the NIH Director?s Pioneer Award which comes with great relief and excitement. I'm now hiring at all levels for this HRHR project. (A brief description of the project can be found here: https://reporter.nih.gov/project-details/10702143) I'm particularly interested in a dedicated and talented fly expert for a long-term position as my lab manager. I am also looking for postdocs and technicians. Denver is a fantastic place to live and the medical school campus has plenty of modern facilities and collegial labs. Please pass this along to anyone you think might be qualified and interested. Message-ID: Dear All, I am a group leader at QMUL, and also a lecturer at a programme between QMUL and Nanchang University in China. This year, my co-lecturer (each of us teaches a class of 125 students in parallel) resigned and I need some help as we won?t have time to recruit a new person for teaching in Nanchang, starting 9 march. We teach embryology to 2nd year medical student. We stay in China for 2 weeks, twice, in march, and also at end of April/early May. I thought that young PIs, or postdocs in this community may be interested. Let me know if interested and I will explain more on the job and the travelling requirements, and the payments (see some indications of that below). Also, may I ask that you share it with your network? Thanks Isa It would be something like this: Business class trip, and 5 star hotel in nanchang, all covered. 4 weeks teaching ? 140 hours Coursework marking ? 52 hours Exam first marking ? 52 hours Exam second marking ? 28 hours Total 272 hours @QMUL Point 34 ?25.17 per hour at the moment. There is also extra payment instead of annual leave on top. If I email you out of hours don?t feel you need to respond outside of your working hours -- Isabel M. Dear Jedi, Subscriptions are still open for the 20th edition of the Italian Drosophila Conference. It will be held in Milan, March 6-8, 2024. The meeting brings together the Italian Drosophila Community and is coorganized by Erika Don? (CNR-Institute of Neuroscience), Simona Polo (IFOM) and me. The confirmed keynote speakers will be Florence Besse (IBV, Nizza) and Aurelio Teleman (DKFZ, Heidelberg). You can find all details, submit an abstract and register here: https://www.ifom.eu/events/xx-drosophila-conference-2024/ I hope some of you will consider it. Italy hosts and small but very active fly community and the meeting is a very informal and pleasant way to get in contact with potential new collaborators and prospective students and postdoc with great training. Milan is a vibrant city, a hub for biomedicine and is easy to reach via the city airport (LIN). It is also a great destination if you want to extend your stay to the weekend. Please redistribute this information to whoever might be interested as you see fit, especially students and postdocs in your labs that might consider Italy for their next career step!
