Hello everyone,
here I am wearing my social media geek hat once again.
Those of you who have left twitter/X long ago (when the writing was on the wall), may not be aware that there has finally been an eXodus to greener pastures very recently: most scientists moved to Bluesky at http://bsky.app The extent of the move is quite unprecedented, and yesterday Science wrote a piece about it<https://www.science.org/content/article/old-twitter-scientific-community-finds-new-home-bluesky>.
Bluesky is still a commercial alternative but at least it does not have an evil political agenda, and the atmosphere is rather sane. Give it a try.
One winning feature of bsky, is the ability to create "starter packs": those are user curated groups of accounts that somehow belong together and that make it easier for everyone to follow and be followed. Matthew Freeman has put together a spreadsheet<https://bsky.app/profile/mjafreeman.bsky.social/post/3lbdfts7gp22z> listing some of the most common starter packs that may be relevant for all of us.
If you don't agree with what X has become and what it was created to do, I invite you to *close* your account and move to bsky. I closed mine long time ago, and gained in mental sanity.
