As you may know, our charity DrosAfrica (www.drosafrica.org) is working to advance African research, in part by setting up a connected network of Drosophila labs. To support these goals, we are reaching out to request donations of equipment, consumables, and surplus items. We are happy to receive second-hand/surplus/opened/ or leftover items in good working condition, including partially used consumables or older models. Please feel free to forward this message to others in your network who may be able to help. Please see attached a file with categorised items (as a list, or in table format at the end of the file) Now we have three projects ongoing that the material can be used for: One in collaboration with Droso4Nigeria (www.droso4nigeria.wordpress.com), and another with Rwanda (https://firat.rw/partners). In addition, we aim to enhance biology education in secondary schools using hands-on resources and visual tools to make science more practical, engaging, and relevant to young learners (with https://blostemei.org/). More projects will pop up in any case in the future, so any materials, etc?available at any time, please let us know Thanks! Dear Nic, In the context of the European consortium SCENTINEL, that we are coordinating, we are organizing a meeting on Crete in late October 2026 on "Developmental Dysregulation and Cancer" https://dev-cancer2026.gr/ It will be a great opportunity to exchange views, share current advances and rethink concepts in cancer biology using different model systems and advanced omics technologies. All participants will have an opportunity for oral presentations and junior scientists are encouraged to apply. I would appreciate if you could bring this to the attention of your lab, your Department and any other party that you think might be interested. All the best ? see you in Kolymbari in a couple of weeks Christos -- This message has been scanned for viruses and dangerous content by MailScanner, and is believed to be clean. The post-holder will be involved in fly genetics, microscopy and molecular cell biology, as well as support training and general lab organisation. Our group investigates how dynamic cell biology supports tissue resilience to damage, and its dysregulation in ageing and disease. We are based within a vibrant research community at the University of Bristol's Faculty of Health and Life Sciences. This is a great opportunity for someone with strong technical experience, particularly with Drosophila, to contribute to ongoing research projects while working in a collaborative, interdisciplinary environment. This post is funded by the Wellcome Trust, with potential to extend beyond the advertised two years. Applications will open from Monday 15th June for 2 weeks. After this time, please see the online advert for further details (search SUPP113440 on www.bristol.ac.uk/jobs/find).
