Hello London Fly People -

My lab is looking to recruit postdoctoral fellows. Multiple positions are available, funded by a recently-announced Investigator Award from the Wellcome Trust.

We work on the innate immune response to bacterial infection, with a particular focus on mechanisms of interaction between immune signals and the physiology of the host and on understanding how infection-induced physiological change contributes to pathology and immune function. We use Drosophila melanogaster as a model host, allowing us to use the unparalleled genetic and genomic tools available in the fruit fly to unravel the complex interaction between host and microbe in an unbiased fashion. Examples of our recent work can be found in Péan et al. Nature Communications 8: 14642, Woodcock et al. Immunity 42: 133, Clark et al. Cell 155: 435. We are seeking excited scientists with a recent PhD in any area of the biological sciences to join our group. Candidates with experience in immunology, physiology, or Drosophila genetics are particularly encouraged to apply.

Imperial College London is regularly ranked among the best universities in the world. Our lab is located in the MRC Centre for Molecular Bacteriology and Infection, an internationally-renowned centre of research on bacterial disease. The MRC CMBI currently houses 16 research groups working on the microbiology and immunology of bacterial infections. Additionally, we benefit from excellent interactions with the local Drosophila community, both at Imperial and in the greater London area.

Scientific and informal queries can be directed to me via email at m.dionne at imperial.ac.uk. More information, including application information, can be found at http://www.imperial.ac.uk/jobs/description/NAT00030/research-associate.

I'm attaching a poster below, in case you are feeling in desperate need for new decor.

Yours
Marc
